Interesting Maths Trick

STEP 1
Ask a friend to write down a number (any number with more than 3 digits will do, but to save time and effort you might suggest a maximum of 8 digits).
Example: 83 972 105

STEP 2
Ask them to add the digits.
Example: 8+3+9+7+2+1+0+5 = 35

STEP 3
Ask them to subtract this number from the original one.
Example: 83 972 105 – 35 = 83 972 070

STEP 4
Ask them to select any digit from this new number and strike it out, without showing you.
Example: 83 972 070

STEP 5
Ask them to add the remaining digits and write down the answer they get.
Example: 8+3+9+7+0+7+0 = 34

STEP 6
Ask them to tell you the number they get (34) and you will tell them which number they struck out.

Guide to activities for kids online (Top chat tips)

he internet can be an overwhelmingly positive experience for children and teenagers. However, there are some very real risks out there and it’s important that kids are armed with the knowledge they need to be safe and secure online.
Here are our top tips for kids chatting online to ensure they stay safe:

1. Keep personal details secret

Don’t reveal personal details, including your real name or email address, to people you don’t know.

16 Things Kids Should Know About Social Networking

1. People who ask you to keep secrets are almost always up to no good

Make no mistake, anyone who is asking you to do something, but doesn’t want you to tell your parents isn’t looking out for your best interests. Anyone who is asking you to do something your parents shouldn’t find out about or wouldn’t like isn’t a good friend at all. Why would someone who cares about you want you to get in trouble, right? This isn’t the same as your dad asking you to keep your mom’s birthday gift a secret. If someone asks you to do something, or tells you something but doesn’t want you to let your parents know, ask yourself why. Yeah, we all like our privacy, but why would someone go to the actual trouble of making sure you won’t tell anyone if it’s not something bad? If someone is asking you not to tell your folks, it’s almost a sure bet you should do the opposite and tell them right away.
