T-Mobile Confirms Galaxy Gear Smart Watch Will Cost $299

T-Mobile has confirmed the high-tech Samsung Galaxy Gear smart watch will be priced at $299 in the United States.

The Galaxy Gear, which runs apps, takes pictures and makes phone calls (when paired with a phone), will be available in 149 countries. T-Mobile will start shipping the device on Oct. 2. AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and US Cellular will also sell the Gear.
When synced with an Android device, the Galaxy Gear is an extension of the smartphone but doesn't replace it. It has a 1.63-inch AMOLED touchscreen, can run a slew of apps — from RunKeeper to Path — and can take voice commands and snap pictures on the go. It's powered by an 800MHz processor with 512MB of RAM, and the battery is said to last about a day.
T-Mobile will also be selling Samsung's new Galaxy Note 3 for $199.99 and 24 monthly payments of $21.
  • The Smart Watch, With a Samsung Twist

The Samsung Galaxy Gear extends the smartphone experience to a 1.6-inch screen on your wrist. The smart watch has a lot of promise, but it feels like an unpolished device.

Screen

The Gear has a 1.6-inch 320 x 320 touchscreen LCD. Menus look crisp, but images weren't the best.
